Audiobook or textbook?
I’ve tried to listen to audiobooks, and I always find myself super distracted. I’ve tried listening in the car, at work, while I’m cooking, and I’ve found it doesn’t work for me. However, listening to podcasts are 10/10. Go figure. So, I’ll always choose a physical book. I also prefer those to e-books as well!
Paperback or hardback?
Paperback! I’m pretty hard on my books, so I like to fold the covers back and shove them into bags and purses. They’re also lighter, so when I’m reading in bed and they fall on my face, it doesn’t hurt as bad.
Fiction or Non-Fiction?
This one is a little tough. I’ve actually been reading a healthy mix of both. I suppose if I had to pick one, I’d choose nonfiction. With creative nonfiction, it can mimic fiction, so I think that would be okay. But, honestly, I love both!
Harry Potter or Twilight?
Harry Potter 1000%. Next question.
Bookshop or online?
I love a good, quaint bookshop. There was a place in Omaha (it has now moved to a new location) that was perfect. It was in a little strip mall across from a high school and I absolutely loved it. I loved the smell of books when you walked in, the free cookies they always had, the creaky floors and mismatched carpet. It was everything you could want from a bookstore. They were connected to the coffeeshop next door, so once you bought your book (or pile of books) you could stop next door for a latte and start to get lost in your new book. I found a cute little bookshop in Kansas that’s not too far away, but I’d love to find a local bookshop closer to home in Missouri.
Standalone or trilogy?
I tend to read more standalone novels. I don’t mind series, especially detective series, gosh I’m a sucker for those, but I usually gravitate toward a standalone novel.
Sweet and short or heavy and long?
Depends on my mood and the time of year, honestly. I’d say short & sweet in the summer and spring and heavy & long in the winter and fall.
Cozy read or reading in the sun?
I love taking my book outside to read! Whether I’m on my family’s boat dock, my backyard deck or laying on a beach, I love reading outdoors. Plus, it’s a great way to get a tan.
Hot chocolate or coffee?
Since wine isn’t an option, I would definitely choose coffee. I used to go to a cozy coffeeshop in Omaha to read, but I’ve noticed that most coffeeshops are trading in their large, comfy couches for hard chairs and tables. Personally, I think this is a travesty. I love going to a coffeeshop to read, work or chat with friends, and I want to be able to sink into comfortable cushions.
