My Morning Skin Care Routine

This year I’ve really been focusing on skin care, and making sure that I’m taking care of it as much as possible. That doesn’t mean I’m using a thousand expensive products each day, I’m just being more conscious of the products that I am using. Today I’m taking about what I do to my skin every morning.

I start by washing my face with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. It’s a nice way to wake up in the morning and wash off anything from the night before. I’ve been using this face wash for years, and I’m in love with it. I’ve tried the store brand, but I feel like it doesn’t work as well for me. This does a really great job of keeping any acne or blemishes off my face (for the most part) and leaves my skin feeling really clean.

After drying my face, I put some Pixi Glow Tonic on a cotton square and rub that in all over my face. This really helps to brighten up my skin in the morning. This is another product I’ve been using for a long time, and I consider it a game changer for me. After this, I’ll spritz a few sprays of Pixi Vitamin Wakeup Mist on my face and let that soak in for a few minutes. This is usually when I brush my teeth to allow my skin to absorb that. This just smells great and is a nice little wake up for my skin.

Then I put on my eye cream. It’s the same eye cream I use at night that I shared in my blog post about my evening skin care routine. It’s Elf Illuminating Eye Cream and for the price this product is awesome. It’s only $10 at Target, and honestly you can’t even get a travel sized eye cream for that price at Ulta or Sephora. I love how this feels on my skin, and even though it’s a new product I am trying, I’m ready to buy it again for the replacement.

Now this is when I (usually) put on my sun block. I honestly don’t know if I need to put my sun block on under my moisturizer, or on top – I get mixed messages when I ask people at Sephora or look it up online – but whatever. This is when I put on my tarte tarteguard 30. I try to do this every day, I really do, but honestly it doesn’t always happen that way. Sometimes I’m in a rush, or I think it’s raining so why bother, but I know it should be applied every single morning. Hey, I’m trying my best here, okay?

Finally I put on my moisturizer, and that is my absolute favorite skin product, the fresh lotus youth preserve face cream with super 7 complex. I’ve been using it for years and I love it. It’s light, but adds a lot of moisture, and feels and smells amazing. The cool cucumber smell is so refreshing and I love applying it on my face. In really dry winters, sometimes this is not moisturizing enough for me, so I’ll swap it out for something else, but most of the time this is what I put on my face.

I have also been toying with another moisturizer, the Ole Henriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator, and I’m really liking this too! In the summer when my face is really oily and sweaty, this helps keep my skin looking matte. I feel like I’m still getting good moisture, and it really helps my oily skin. I usually will put this on if I know I’m going somewhere nice or if I’m doing a lot of makeup.

I’m in the market for a serum to add to my routine, so if you have any suggestions, let me know! What are your favorite skin care products? I’d love to hear what you use on a daily basis!

  1. Ok so I have 2 serums to recommend from the same brand. When I was younger my mom and grandma always gave me the extra free makeup from Estée Lauder. They make this advanced night repair serum that I use all the time at night which works amazingly well!!! Seriously this stuff got rid of my acne scars. In the morning I use the Estée Lauder Idealist pore minimizer. Since using that I rarely wear foundation anymore. I love how it feels rich and creamy and that it makes my pores appear nonexistent. It is expensive but I can usually buy it when they offer free stuff with it. Probably why I have tons of mascara and lipstick…
