Loving Lately

Man September was a super crazy month for me! I started a new job and that meant getting used to a new routine and schedule, so I apologize for taking a few days off from the blog, but I’m back! There were so many things that I tried and loved last month, so let’s just jump right in to what I loved in September.

For some reason, Chloe has reverted in her potty training and has been having accidents on the (brand new) carpet and aside from being really frustrated and confused, I’ve been cleaning up a lot of messes. Luckily I found this carpet cleaner that is amazing at getting stains out. It’s 409 Carpet Cleaner, and works wonders. The only thing that I don’t like is that it doesn’t get the pet smell out of the carpet, but we have another product we like for that. So, if you need a good carpet cleaner, this one is really good!

A few weeks ago, Hubby and I smoked a tri-tip for dinner, and I made some jalapeño mac and cheese to go with it. Instead of putting it in the oven, we smoked it and it was literally the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had in my entire life. You can find the recipe here and trust me, it is so worth it. It’s spicy, and cheesy, and gooey and completely wonderful.

Where are my football fans at? The season has started up and I am so excited for it! Hubby and I love watching all the NFL games on Sunday at a sports bar, or staying home and cheering for our teams. I’m a total Chiefs fan, but Hubby roots for the Dolphins. It’s hard for us to find both games on our TV, so heading to sports bars is a really fun way for both of us to see both games.

I started listening to a new podcast, and I have to share! It’s called Uncover: Escaping Nxivm. Nxivm is a cult that has recently been in the press. The leaders have been indicted for running a sex cult, and this podcast focuses on one person who escaped the cult. She shares her experiences, which are horrifying, and how she finally got out. You know I’m a huge fan of true crime, so this is right up my alley. If you want something spooky to listen to for Halloween, download this podcast!

I don’t usually talk about things I’ve watched, but last month I watched some things I really loved! Hubby let me pick a couple of movies for a movie night, so I chose Life of the Party and I Feel Pretty. They both had me laughing so hard! I’m obsessed with Melissa McCarthy, even if her movies seem to be all the same, this one was great. And I Feel Pretty was super cute with a great message along with it. We also watched the documentary about Mister Rogers, Won’t You Be My Neighbor. It was phenomenal.

Finally I got a decent amount of reading done in a month! I’m still behind in my yearly goal, which I know will lead to a scramble at the end of the year to read as many books as possible. But, some of the books I finished this month were really good! I read The High Tide Club from Mary Kay Andrews. I thought this would be a romantic beach read, but it actually has a darker undertone. I really enjoyed it, and it held my attention, but it did seem slow at some places.

I really love the TV show Younger, and in the show they publish a book called Marriage Vacation. It turns out it’s actually a book! So I read that and it was cute.

After like three months I finished America’s First Daughter. I could not get into this book at all. It was slow and a little boring. But, I had invested so much time into it, I felt I had to finish it.

The last book I finished was A Summer in Sonoma. This was the easy, breezy beach read I was looking for. It was like reading a Hallmark movie, and I loved it.

Currently Reading: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – Honestly, I’ve never read this book! Back in high school, I had the chance to read this book, but I chose In Cold Blood instead. Are you even surprised? I’m watching The Great American Read every week on PBS, and they keep talking about how great this novel is, so I thought I’d finally pick it up. I’m not very far into it, but I’m really enjoying it!

xoxo, (1)
